Sian Davies
Running Club Trainer based in Bristol

Siân became involved in sport when at the age of 11 she started running for her local athletics club, where she represented the clubs junior team in middle distance and cross country running. Siân’s keenness and determination to excel in running was rewarded when at the age of 16 she was selected to represent her county at cross country running and sportshall athletics.

Due to her enjoyment of sport and her interest in human anatomy and physiology Siân went on to study physical education at A-level, and then completed a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences at UWIC. During her time at University Siân studied athletics coaching and became involved with instructing Downs Syndrome children at Cardiff Athletics Club – an incredibly valuable role that really highlighted the rewards that could be gained from helping others achieve their own goals.

Despite ‘retiring’ from competitive athletics in her early twenties Siân continued running for her own enjoyment and has completed numerous road races at varying distances, including several half and full marathons.

Over the last few years Siân’s enjoyment of sport has seen her become more involved in outdoor activities where she has developed a keen interest in mountain biking, skiing, climbing, diving and, most recently, surfing.

Despite veering more towards adrenaline fuelled activities Siân has sustained her involvement in running and recently completed the England Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness course, and is now a registered UK Athletics Running Leader. She is also continuously looking to develop her knowledge of the impact of sport on the human body and is studying for a professional BTEC in Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy.
